What should I wear to my surgery?

We recommend wearing loosing clothing that can easily be removed. Please bring your insurance card as well as a photo ID. 


When should I make a follow up appointment after the surgery?

We recommend scheduling an appointment to see your doctor in 5-7 days. 


What is the average post operative recovery time?

Depending on your procedure, recovery time after surgery can vary from person to person. On average, patients who underwent the following procedure should expect the following time allowing for rest, attending physical therapy, or attending other office visits. 
  • Carpal tunnel release or trigger finger surgery should allow for 1-2 weeks  of recovery time. 
  • Distal radius or other type of fracture should allow for 6 weeks of recovery time. 
  • Shoulder surgery should allow for 16-20 recovery time. 


When should I start therapy?

Depending on the type of condition you have, the doctor may recommend hand, occupational, or physical therapy before surgery or shortly after surgery. However, for the best results, we recommend following up with your doctor so you can create a plan for your best results.  


Should I stop taking medications before the surgery?

The day of your surgery, you may drink high blood pressure medication or other daily medications with one sip of water. 


Can I drive to surgery?

For your safety, you should have someone drive you home after the surgery.
